Rome – Waiting for the wonderful conjunction between Jupiter, the gas giant, and Mars, the red planet. The two planets will reach their minimum perceptible distance between August 14 and 15.:On both days, at dawn, it will be possible to admire them at a distance of just over a quarter of a degree of angular distance, that is, half the apparent size of the lunar disk. This was announced by astrophysicist Gianluca Masi, founder of the Virtual Telescope project. Visibility is possible with the naked eye, while binoculars or a telescope will allow you to better appreciate the two heroes.– Massey explains, in a note – and it also shows the Medici moons of Jupiter. Everything will happen in the constellation Taurus.

Jupiter is brighter than Mars, 16 times more massive than the Red Planetwhich however will not look out of place, also thanks to its distinctive and famous crimson shade. The Virtual Telescope Project – the astrophysicist confirms – will show this wonderful conjunction live on the morning of August 14, starting at 04.30. The event will be available on the project’s website: www.virtualtelescope.eu.

Here’s the photo Massey got on the morning of August 12th, The two planets stand out against a background rich in stars and galactic dust clouds.
