According to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, “in reality fascism, neo-fascism and their dupes are conquering Europe”. Speaking live on state television, Venezuela de Televisión (VTV), Maduro added, “It’s incredible how fascism, neo-fascism and their dupes are advancing in Spain, putting democracy under pressure; in Italy, where they have gained political power; and in Germany, (Adolf) Hitler with Nazi overtones.
Referring to a recent phone call with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Maduro declared, “There is a debate in the world on this topic (Venezuela crisis),” and added, “I took advantage of the call to explain to him that Venezuela is moving forward to fight fascism.”
“We must call it by name – specifically the president of Venezuela – fascism is the devil. No one should sugarcoat the general manifestations of intolerance and persecution of fascist programs”. Maduro concluded his impassioned speech on the sidelines of a Chavista cultural event by underlining that “the entire fascist and neo-fascist international is targeting Venezuela, the crown jewel of South America.”
