MotoGP 2024, Bastianini wins Silverstone. Race Highlights

Enea Bastianini won the Silverstone GP, MotoGP class, the tenth round of the MotoGP Championship. After Saturday’s Sprint race, the official Ducati rider also won Sunday’s race. The podium at the British GP was completed by Jorge Martin on a Pramac Ducati and Francesco Bagnaia on an official Ducati. Thanks to this result, the Spaniard has overtaken world champion Bagnaia in the drivers’ standings: he is +3. Fourth place at Silverstone for Marc Marquez on the Gresini Ducati Team, and fifth for the other Ducati rider Fabio Di Giannantonio.

Racing at Silverstone

At Silverstone, the riders took to the track in vintage livery, to celebrate 75 years of MotoGP. Starting from pole position was Aleix Espargaro on an Aprilia, followed by Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini on a Ducati. Bastianini won the Sprint Race yesterday while Bagnaia crashed. Jorge Martin started fourth, Alex Marquez fifth, Brad Binder sixth and Marc Marquez seventh. Maverick Viñales, Pedro Acosta and Fabio Di Giannantonio completed the top ten. A great start from Bagnaia, who took the lead. Behind him were Bastianini, Martin and M. Marquez. On the second lap Martin overtook Bastianini, who had made a long way. Shortly afterwards Espargaro also passed Bastianini. With ten laps to go, the top five remained unchanged: Bagnaia, Martin, Espargaro, Bastianini and Marc Marquez. On lap 11 Bastianini reclaimed third place. Shortly afterwards, Martin overtook Bagnaia and took the lead. On lap 13, Bastianini also overtook Bagnaia. On lap 15, Marc Márquez overtook Espargaro and took fourth place. With 5 laps to go, this is the situation: Martin, Bastianini, Bagnaia, M. Márquez, Espargaro. With 2 laps to go, Martin went wide and Bastianini took advantage to pass him and cross the finish line first. This is the order of the top 10 finishes: Bastianini, Martin, Bagnaia, M. Márquez, Di Giannantonio, Espargaro, A. Márquez, Pizzicchi, Acosta, Morbidelli.
